Chapter 1 of 4
How a search query works
Words, operators and quotes
Every search on FTM is one line of text. Plain words look for company names. An operator narrows the search to one kind of data: write the field, a colon and the value, for example address:Rīga or type:SIA. Put a value with spaces in double quotes, so it is read as one phrase.
Baltic
name:"Latvijas Gāze"
reg:40003000642Balticfinds companies with the word in their name, including short and cleaned names.name:"Latvijas Gāze"needs the words together and in this order.reg:40003000642finds exactly one company. An 11-digit registration number typed on its own works the same way.
A space between conditions means AND: every condition must match. A search needs at least two characters, may be up to 512 characters long and shows at most the 2,000 best matches.
Opens the results page with the search already filled in.
What is free and what is advanced
Most of the query language is free and needs no account. Financial figures, the reporting year, registration and removal dates, and sorting by them belong to advanced search, which the Pro, Team and Business plans include. The search guide marks these filters with ★.

Build the search step by step (free)
Step 1: start with the industry
An example task: you offer an accounting service to small IT companies in Riga and need a list of prospects. Start with what the companies do. nace: takes a NACE Rev. 2.1 code, and a broader code includes everything below it, so nace:62 covers computer programming (62.10), IT consultancy (62.20) and other IT services (62.90).
nace:62Not sure of the code? In Build a search, press Choose NACE code, find the activity by its name and choose whether a company must match any of the selected industries (OR) or all of them (AND).
Every company classified in division 62.
Step 2: add the place, legal form and status
Each condition added with a space must match too. address: searches the registered address, type:SIA keeps limited liability companies, and status:REGISTERED keeps only companies that are currently registered.
nace:62 address:Rīga
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTEREDRegistered IT companies (SIA) with an address in Riga.
Step 3: alternatives and exclusions
OR accepts either condition, while NOT, or a minus sign directly in front of a condition, leaves matches out. Write these keywords in capitals. FTM reads parentheses first, then NOT, then AND and finally OR, so put alternatives in parentheses.
nace:62 address:Rīga (type:SIA OR type:AS) status:REGISTERED
nace:62 -nace:62.10 address:Rīga status:REGISTERED- The first line also includes public limited companies (AS).
- The second leaves out companies classified as computer programming (62.10) and keeps consultancies and other IT services.
SIA and AS companies together, with the other conditions applied to both.
Step 4: order, size and the search builder
sort:name:asc lists the results alphabetically, and limit:50 keeps only the first 50 in that order. Both are free.
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTERED sort:name:asc limit:50Prefer not to type? Build a search adds the same conditions with Add a filter: choose the field and the value, tick Exclude companies matching this condition for NOT, use Add a group with Match any for OR, and set the order under Sorting, history and result limit. Your draft describes the search in words, and View / edit search query shows the text it builds.
The builder opens with this search, ready to change.
People and earlier records
officer: searches board members and other officers, member: shareholders and other members, owner: shareholders and joint owners, and person: every relationship of a natural person. People are found by name only, never by personal code.
By default FTM searches current records. Add history:historical for earlier names, addresses and roles, or history:all for both. The results still show each company’s latest details.
officer:"Jānis Bērziņš"
officer:"Jānis Bērziņš" history:historical
address:"Brīvības iela" history:all status:REGISTEREDChapter 3 of 4
Advanced search: finances, dates and ranking
Before you start
The advanced steps continue the free search from step 2. Keep its conditions and add the new ones at the end.
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTEREDAdvanced search is included in Pro, Team and Business.
Step 5: choose the year and the size
financial_year:2025 makes every financial condition use the annual report for 2025. Without it, each company’s latest report is used, so the years can differ from company to company. revenue is the net turnover in euros, and employees is the number of employees given in the report.
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTERED financial_year:2025 revenue:100000..2000000 employees:5..50Two dots give a range with both ends included: revenue:100000..2000000 means . Leave one end out for an open range, such as employees:50.., or compare with >, >=, <, <=, = and !=. Write numbers without spaces or thousands separators.
Companies with a 2025 turnover between 100,000 and 2,000,000 euros and 5 to 50 employees.
Step 6: profit and company age
profit>0 keeps companies that ended the year with a net profit; profit is the same field as net_income. registered:2018-01-01.. keeps companies registered on or after 1 January 2018. Write dates as YYYY-MM-DD.
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTERED financial_year:2025 revenue:100000..2000000 employees:5..50 profit>0 registered:2018-01-01..Profitable companies registered since 2018.
Step 7: rank the list
sort:revenue:desc puts the largest companies first. Add up to three fields separated by commas. Each needs asc for ascending or desc for descending, and companies without a value come last. Sorting by name or registration number is free; sorting by financial figures or dates is advanced.
nace:62 address:Rīga type:SIA status:REGISTERED financial_year:2025 revenue:100000..2000000 employees:5..50 profit>0 registered:2018-01-01.. sort:revenue:desc, employees:descEach result shows the annual report and the values your filters used, so you can see why a company is on the list. Keep financial_year: outside OR and NOT groups, just like history: and sort:.
The prospects ranked by turnover, the largest first.

Keep the search working
Save, share and monitor
Every search has its own address: the query stays in the link, so you can bookmark it or send it to a colleague.
With Pro, Team or Business, Save search keeps the search in your workspace. A saved search always carries a limit:; if you leave it out, FTM adds the most your plan can monitor. From a saved search you can export the companies or add them to a monitoring group in one step.
Your saved searches, ready to run, export or monitor.
